Cinch stables
specializes in teaching novice riders with a strong
emphasis on safety.
Owner, Leslie Cornish, is a Canadian
Equestrian Federation approved coach with over 25 years of
experience. Her staff is capable, friendly and caring.
Students
learn to ride on beautiful well-trained Quarter Horses, many of
which have been show champions.
We have a
spacious summer outdoor riding paddock, well-lit for evening
lessons, and a bright indoor riding arena for inclement weather.
People choose to take Western Riding Lessons at Cinch Stables for
a variety of reasons. Adults look for an enjoyable weekly pastime
to re-connect to nature.
They find the riding to be interesting
and relaxing - a great way to alleviate the daily stresses and the
demanding pace of today's lifestyle. Additional benefits are
making new friends and improving ones physical fitness.
Children
of all ages are welcome at Cinch Stables. Riding Lessons are a
great way to develop confidence and a sense of accomplishment, as
well as instilling a respect and appreciation for animals.
Our
young students increase their level of concentration and
self-discipline as they learn to maneuver their horses through
increasingly complex and challenging gaits, patterns and
obstacles.
New
students at Cinch Stables begin with an initial
lesson. After the initial lesson, the coach will recommend further riding lesson options. |
Types of Lessons
Initial
Lesson
This initial lesson is for all first time riders at Cinch Stables, from the complete novice rider, to the very experienced. This lesson combines theory plus riding with most time devoted to riding.
Theory includes learning how to groom and saddle the horse as well as important horse handling skills and safety rules.
When it comes to riding, students learn the following: mount-up, warm-up
exercises, steering, stopping, riding gaits, control, balanced
position and dismount. Lessons are designed to be fun and challenging for riders of various skill and comfort levels.
Private Lessons
Private lessons are to follow the initial lesson. These lessons can also be semi-private lessons with two or more people. They are booked as you go, so
no need for a long term commitment!
Group
Lessons
There
is a maximum of 6 students in a group lesson to provide lots of individual
attention. The group lessons are 1 hour in length. Students need to arrive 1/2 hour early giving them ample time to prepare their horse.
Cinch Stables offers three types of group lessons to suit the various interest and commitment levels of the students and their families.
-
Open Group Lessons: these lessons are open to those students who can walk, jog and lope their horses. These group lessons are set up on a one-at-a-time basis, and are available on various days and times year-round.
-
School Year Weekly Group Lessons: these group lessons run weekly from the beginning of September through to the end of June. Students commit to a specific lesson day and time, with classes running weekly.
-
Year Round Weekly Group Lessons: (booked in house by invitation)
Pony Rides
A
favourite among the young kids! Pony rides may be parent-led and are an excellent first-time ride for the young children (2-5 years).
